No passado desempenhou um importante papel na vida socioecon\u00f3mica do interior do concelho de Loul\u00e9 (sobretudo na freguesia de Alte) mas atualmente n\u00e3o possu\u00ed grande express\u00e3o na regi\u00e3o.
