Decorative ceramics have been part of Inês’ career since she was 11.

At 14, she began to explore tile painting and the glazing of utilitarian pieces, discovering in practice her fascination with manual labour and the textures of the earth. She studied Fashion Design and graduated in Environmental Design from ESAD.cr.

Her career path led her to work in interior design and, later, to join the Philip Morris team in the areas of logistics and consumer activation – an experience that provided her with essential management and structural tools, which are still applied in her project today. She lived in London for two years, a life-changing experience that sparked her desire to create her own project, centred on valuing local production and Portuguese design.

She is currently the founder and creative director of SAN PI, a studio celebrating its sixth anniversary. SAN PI was born out of a desire to share the world of ceramics in an accessible, sensory way and with a fair and sustainable approach.

In addition to product creation, the heart of the project today lies in its classes and workshops, where ceramics becomes an experience, an expression and an encounter. In 2024, she was resident ceramist at Cucumbi, in an immersive experience in the deep Alentejo. This year, she will be giving workshops at Casa Modesta in Olhão, continuing to expand the universe of ceramics in contexts linked to nature, slow time and authenticity.
