Loulé Criativo recognized with the Medal of Tourist Merit
The Loulé Criativo project was recognized with the Medal of Tourism Merit, for the services provided that resulted in significant benefits for tourism activity». The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) awarded the Medal of Tourist Merit to the Loulé Criativo project, during the gala commemorating the 55th anniversary of this entity, which took place on Saturday, September 27th.
According to the RTA, this distinction is due to the «recognition of the relevant services provided to Algarve tourism, which resulted in significant benefits for tourism activity, for the enhancement of the region and for its affirmation as a destination of excellence». With a decade of existence, Loulé Criativo is a project of the Municipality of Loulé, created in 2014, which focuses on valuing the identity of the municipality, based on creativity and innovation. It supports the training and activity of artisans and professionals in the creative sector, contributing to the revitalization of traditional arts and to the promotion of new approaches to intangible heritage.
On the other hand, it presents a diverse and attractive set of creative experiences, through art, crafts, gastronomy or heritage, which put tourists in contact with the unique aspects of local and regional identity, based on the philosophy of “do it yourself”, as well as a cultural programme that promotes events related to the theme of creativity, heritage, arts and crafts. This offer of creative tourism activities is promoted through a network made up of various local agents, artisans, companies and artists, willing to open the doors to visitors, to give them the opportunity to discover the culture of this territory.
It should be remembered that Loulé was the first Portuguese municipality to join the Creative Tourism Network, which aggregates and promotes the worldwide offer of this new generation of tourism
