The master craftsman Isidoro Ramos is the protagonist of a special highlight in the January edition of Tomorrow magazine, a recognition of his career and his fundamental role in preserving the art of working esparto music.
Born in Paderne, Isidoro Ramos is a passionate defender of this traditional know-how, which he learned as a child from his mother and grandmother. A knowledge transmitted from generation to generation and that today assumes an added value as intangible cultural heritage.
Currently in the pre-retirement phase, Isidoro dedicates much of his time to esparto picking, artisanal production and teaching this art, sharing his knowledge with new generations and actively contributing so that this ancestral craft is not lost in time.
Isidoro Ramos is part of the Loulé Criativo community, being part of the collective of artisans of Casa do Esparto, in Sarnadas, parish of Alte, a space dedicated to the safeguarding, enhancement and dissemination of this traditional art.
The highlight in Tomorrow magazine reinforces the importance of the work developed by the master craftsman and underlines the value of traditional craftsmanship as an identity element of the territory.
