Olímpia Cabrita, born in the parish of Alte and resident in Monte Seco, is a master of an ancient and rare technique that combines sugarcane with palm mesh. She learned this knowledge at a young age, observing and accompanying her mother and neighbors, who kept this tradition alive within the community.
It is a demanding technique, which requires strength and dedication, as it involves not only the braiding of the palm, but also the harvesting and preparation of the cane, processes that require time and physical work.
Olímpia likes challenges and proudly states that, to this day, there has not been a play that she could not do. He dedicates himself to each creation with enthusiasm, perfecting himself in the details and finishes. He feels great satisfaction when visitors recognize the perfection and care of his work, the result of the passion and experience he puts into each piece.
