Fernanda Martins

Fernanda Martins was born and has always lived in Sarnadas, parish of Alte. At the age of 20 he started in handicrafts and today he masters the art of esparto music. She is one of the artisans of Casa do Esparto.

Fernanda Martins was born and has always lived in Sarnadas, parish of Alte, where she raised her two children. She started early helping her parents in the field and, later, learned to sew and embroider for the family and the community.

At the age of 20 he started in handicrafts, first in sisal, then in palm, and finally in esparto, mastering everything from the empreita to the tape measure to the assembly of pieces such as donkeys, doormats, baskets, bases, wine racks and rugs.

At the same time, he manages the family restaurant Rosmaninho, opened in 1995, and continues to work at Casa do Esparto, preserving and disseminating this tradition.
