Luísa Leão is part of the Textile Workshop of the Loulé Criativo network, where she regularly develops her work.
Born in Brasília and residing in the Algarve, he has been an artist-in-residence at Galeria GamaRama since 2024. PhD student in Arts at the University of Beira Interior, she has a degree and a master’s degree in Fashion Design from the same institution, having carried out academic mobilities at the Polytechnic Institute of Milan and the Federal University of Ceará.
Her artistic practice is born from the gestures of sewing and collage explored since childhood, which she revisits today in material-textile works of an abstract and organic nature. She works mainly with wool fibre, exploring yarn as a central element of her creative process, often incorporating legacy textiles and reused materials.
Parallel to her artistic creation, she promotes embroidery and felting workshops and coordinates the textile club Trama Aberta at Loulé Criativo, promoting the sharing of knowledge and the meeting around textile making.
