Natural Dyeing Course in Wool Yarn (14h)
Description
In this workshop you will learn the process of dyeing wool yarn with natural materials and pigments of plant and animal origin and create more than 30 different colors and tones.
Program
Objectives:
- Tint a spectrum of more than 30 colors and shades with a focus on yellows, reds, browns, purples and greens
- Obtain basic knowledge to continue experimenting with natural dyeing autonomously.
Program Content:
- Principles of natural dyeing and presentation of the different stages of the process
- Presentation of equipment, materials, materials and natural pigments (plant and animal)
- Alert to the care and safety to be taken in natural dyeing
- Color field log/diary (show of various examples)
- Preparation of textile fibres
- Mordant processes
- Dyeing with various plant and animal materials and pigments (e.g. onion skin, cochineal, dyer’s redhead, dyer’s lily and others)
- Color modification and experimentation for color change
- Post-dyeing finishing

Requirements
- In the manual work of the participants, it is advisable to wear practical clothes and aprons
- The workshop program is sequential, and the presence of participants is requested during all stages
- Dyeing will not be done with indigo, as it follows a different process
