An introduction to hand spinning wool on a drop spindle. Learn how to turn wool into useable yarn with this technique that goes back thousands of years.
Program
Learn the ancient art of spinning wool on a drop spindle, resulting in your own, one of a kind, hank of hand-spun wool. Mindful, portable and accessible, the spindle is the perfect introduction to spinning.
Using portuguese merino wool, you will learn how to prepare your wool, how to get started with the “park and draft” technique, and then move onto more advanced techniques, and then plying and finishing your hand spun yarn, with all the traditional terms and equipment associated.
