Fig and Almond Trilogy
Description
The almond tree is part of the Algarve’s imaginary. The almond and fig are existing fruits in the municipality of Loulé, part of the traditional Mixed Dryland Orchard.
In this Gastronomic Workshop, you can discover how to use the almond in three different recipes.
We start with an explanation of the ingredients to be used and all the preparation before the confection, then we put our “hands in the dough”.
- Fig: Mediterranean fruit highly energetic, similar in shape to a pear, measuring 3 to 7 cm. Its color and shape vary a lot: red, green, yellow, purple and black. The dried fig does not lose its properties, it just has a smaller amount of water.
- Almond: the tree is known as almond, but its official name is prunus dulcis, and it is part of the Mediterranean diet. The almond is rich in fiber, vitamins, magnesium, zinc and phosphorus.
Program
Following Ana Figueiras’ instructions they will use the almond in 3 recipes:
- The queijinho de figo – a dough made with fig and toasted almonds and ground with spices;
